Hi All,
Adrick and I have added office hours, we’ll be there at those consistent hours. However, I actually probably hang out at that office more than what is socially healthy…
Moving On: We are holding a GENERAL CLUB MEETING for all interested in helping out and becoming members. During the Meeting, we will discuss what Allies is all about, sign a few forms for confidentiality if you want to become a member (because the discussion groups are safe confidential spaces). That should not take a bulk of time, so the latter half of the meeting will be actual discussion. The topic of the week will be PORN.
Meeting takes place: Tuesday, Sept 22nd, 2009 @ 12:00pm. Mark this down in your agenda books/calendars. Also, feel free to bring your lunches.
Also, if you cannot make it because of schedule conflicts, but dearly want to. Who wouldn’t? Porn, c’mon. I urge you to e-mail us. We want to know which times will work out for the most people.
Volunteer Opportunity: We are looking for a volunteer who is good at Web-design, and would be willing to design some cool logos/stuffs for our site.
Also still looking for confident volunteers who enjoy public speaking to help run Workshops.

Walking a Mile in Her Shoes
What is it? Men walk a mile in high-heels to help raise awareness and money for the fight against violence against women. I know huh? Perhaps this will spark a repressed cross-dressing fetish for me, who knows. We walk in heels from Granville & Davie to Waterfront Station! Yikes! But it’s for a good cause and I agree that, “You can’t really understand another persons experience, until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes.”

Glad to see the new school year up and running, and Allies is in total full swing. Well, it is at the beginning of the full swing. You know, when you just get onto the swing and that’s when you have to do the most leg work? The rocking back and forth to get the momentum? That’s where Allies is at right now. Me and Adrick are starting to get a lot of things going, and it’s very exciting. (I apologize for over-extending that analogy)
Anyway…
Here is a repost of an e-mail sent out to the mailing list for anyone who didn’t get it:
For eight years Allies has been an active male feminist group on campus, and we are thrilled to begin another term doing more of the same. Our organization is dedicated to spearheading the mandate of the White Ribbon Campaign: eradicating men’s violence against womyn through education, public speaking, and fundraising for womyn’s support groups and shelters. To accomplish these objectives we offer our famous “Oral Sex Workshop” to male students in residences and fraternities, host the annual White Ribbon Pancake Breakfast in late November, meet regularly as a group for our own discussions on masculinity, as well as offer our fundraising surplus and support to a variety of womyn’s organizations both on and off campus. We believe in feminism, gender equality, and universal consensual sex and love!
SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING YOU’RE INTERESTED IN?
Here are a few ways you can get involved:
Workshops: We are looking for confident, well-spoken men to administrate our “Oral Sex Workshop” with us in residences and fraternities. This involves learning the structure of the discussion and committing a couple hours each week to the cause, mostly in September and October.
White Ribbon Pancake Breakfast: We are also looking for male volunteers to help cook and serve pancakes at our annual White Ribbon Campaign fundraiser. Our tentative date for the event is the 26th of November, 8 AM until noon. Food Safe training would be beneficial!

Weekly Discussions: Drop by once a week to hang out with a bunch of guys and talk about a whole range of issues relating to masculinity, sex, and violence. These discussions are totally casual, confidential, and incredibly constructive! Once we get our logistics sorted, we will set a weekly time and place for these meetings to happen.
If you are an R.A. or have connections within a fraternity or male sports team, feel free to contact us at alliesubc@gmail.com for a workshop booking, or any other queries.
If you are female and want to in some way contribute to Allies, send us an email with some suggestions: we have an incredible opportunity within our workshops to influence the attitude of young men, so any input would be incredible.

Allies is officially up-and-running again, after a year of hiatus…
Starting the Fall Semester of 2009, Adrick and I will be 100% committed to the Allies cause.
Which means, recommencing of traditional resources,
